The No Borders Camp of Ventimiglia started on the 11th of June, when a group of migrant moved on the rocks in order to resist the police eviction, identification and continue to struggle for their freedom. A group of migrant moved on the rocks in order to resist the police eviction, identification and continue to struggle for their freedom. From that day solidarity networks from different territories have been working to build a permanent laboratory of resistance to repressive politics we see in action on borders. (quoted from rabble.org.uk)
The No Borders Camp on September 30, has been suddenly dismantled by an unprecedent police action in terms of size and number of agents.
The No Borders Camp is helping the migrants providing food, medicine, bed, clothes, blankets, but also legal advices, basic education and a temporary family.
The only alternative is a Red Cross camp in Ventimiglia with restrictions and not able to interact with different cultures, leaving the migrants in the hands of the so called “passeurs”, an illegal organization that “help” migrants crossing the border with France, leaving them most of the time anywhere on the mountain in Italy after beating them and stealing the fee for the crossing.
No Borders movement is actively supported by the Bishop of Ventimiglia. As for today the future of the movement and the migrants is uncertain.
